Description

The LM0051U is a cost-effective version of the LM0051 telemetry system designed for those who don’t currently require an energy meter. This receiver is a tiny package that includes pre-calibrated battery voltage, temperature, and RSSI sensors, along with every major telemetry parameter. The LM0051U is the world’s smallest true full-range telemetry system, featuring a diversity receiver with built-in sensors.

The energy meter is now an optional purchase with the LM0051U, making it a cost-effective version of the LM0051. The LM0051U has the same performance as the LM0052, except it doesn’t include a barometric sensor for altitude and vario information. The true full-range diversity telemetry provides real-time plane information as far as you can fly your plane using any DSMX or DSM2 compatible transmitter. The package includes an energy metering system with mAh, V, and current readings, along with a V/I sensing unit. The 2-stage failsafe is suitable for both gasoline and electric applications and includes selectable failsafe for predefined positions like throttle-only or all-channel failsafe in the event of a signal absence. The diversity extended antenna receiver comes with state-of-the-art RF circuitry that provides unmatched performance. The real-time RSSI output is available as an analog voltage or displayed on transmitter A parameter.

Glider pilots can use the included wiring for battery voltage sensing only if energy metering system is not required for absolute weight reduction. An optional diversity satellite may be used to provide a total of four receiving antennas.

The LM0051 telemetry range has been tested with Spektrum and Orange telemetry-capable receivers as a basic performance benchmark. It’s essential to note that other receivers may not contain diversity antennas like the LM0051, and the setup is performed in a way that diversity doesn’t have an advantage in any range improvement during testing.

The purchased package includes pre-calibrated battery voltage, receiver voltage, temperature (Internal automatically selected when the included external temperature probe is not used), RSSI out (3V to 0V), and displayed on transmitter A parameter. The optional energy meter can be purchased separately under accessories, which requires a one-time user calibration (mAh consumed, current).

LM0051U, LM0052U, and LM0041 may require a V/I sensor to be purchased separately if mAh consumed/current measurement is required. The input voltage at V/I sensor is 7.8V to 22V (or 2S to 5S LiPo). Using a voltage probe without V/I sensor will accept up to 35V of input voltage at the voltage probe pin. Re-calibration may be required when switching between voltage probe or V/I sensor and vice versa. The V/I sensor may be an optional item, depending on the package selected.

The quick start-up guide for the LM0051 includes a V/I sensor calibration process and a failsafe setting process. The failsafe activates when the receiver no longer receives a signal (e.g., transmitter is off/signal loss). There are three possible settings for the failsafe:

No signal output to servo

Output predefined throttle signal only

Output predefined signal for all channels

To set the failsafe, insert the bind plug, provide power to the unit, and bind the unit, but don’t remove the bind plug. Set your transmitter to the preferred position as failsafe default output and hold it to this position. Press the button briefly, and the green light will be in the following status while maintaining your preferred position of the channel:

Green LED status – none: No pulse to servo with the absence of correct reception

Green LED status – flashing: Throttle-only preset.
